The dark haired man tugged the woollen cloak closer to his body as he was sitting on a tree stump in front of a burning campfire. His grey eyes were staring into the flames and a familiar frown was placed between his dark eyebrows as his soft lips were pouted. Even though it was spring, the nights were still cold in the wild, and the man could see his white breath in front of him as he gently separated his lips and exhaled. With a small sniff and reached out for a stick that was placed on top of two other so they were holding it over the fire. The stick was pierced through a big rabbit he had shot today. He turned the meat so it would brown on the other side before taking his cup of hot herbal tea and sipping to it. He looked up at the red sun that was setting behind the mountains in the distance and it threw a red shine over the small bush-like pine trees that were standing around him. A big even star was already shining from the dark blue sky and his serious eyes slowly lost themselves in the sight of it. He had always wondered how far the stars were from them and what they were. His uncle used to say that it was the campfires of their ancestors who had died and gone to “heaven”. He would like to believe that, but somehow Baldur thought that the explanation was not complex enough. It was as if the stars were hiding a secret he would never find out. The steam from his tea reached his nostrils and he inhaled the minty scent of it before taking another sip. His eyes fell upon the tent a bit away from the campfire. It was a small tent he usually used when he was on the road. It had only room for two but that was also enough for him. He and his good friend Freya had a tradition for going out camping ever since they were kids and their parents had allowed them to go out alone. They had spent many days in the wilderness and he had enjoyed her company. Even though there were big pauses between their former regular trips, he was always looking forward to go on one of them with her. She was the only person who he had let getting close to him. Baldur was a very reserved person and he never let anyone become really good friends with him. But he had known Freya as long as he could remember and she was the best friend he had.
