DAN'S THREE MEN?!

[BALDUR ASGRIM]

Baldur is a very complex young man who is rather quiet at first, but when he needs to get his views through, he makes sure that he gets hurt. His biggest flaw is his temper and he tends to patronize people to make them do as he wants. Despite of that, he is rather friendly and quite brave. His work has given him years of experience in putting himself in danger and he is therefore not easily scared. His alliance is with Bree and he lets the people fight their own wars. He does not take part in any of that unless it concerns him. I can imagine him having some very close guy friends – like some kind of a brotherhood. Perhaps five or so… Then he could have a few female friends, but since he is very bad at getting along with girls, I don’t know how it will work out. We will see, shall we? He has never had a long term relationship with a woman because he tends to put his job in front of everything – even in front of love. He is not flirtatious at all, and is rather awkward around women. I can imagine him having some enemies. Nothing too complicated; just mutual dislike. Hmm… What else? Oh yeah, I can actually see him getting along with many people. He has a very mixed personality. He loves animals and has a one year old magical and tamed dire wolf. He would most certainly get along with other animal lovers! If you guys have any other ideas, you are most welcome to post. Don't be shy!

So, I don't want to bore you with describing my character too much or to make long lists of what he needs. He needs a good friend, close friends, bullies (since he is good to be picked on, however he does fight back if it gets too much), enemies (people who he really hates) and girls he can be awkward around. He is very oblivious to his interests towards the female sex, so he won't do anything about his small crushes. Most of the time he falls for a girl that is way out of his league. Honestly, I don't see him having a girlfriend anytime soon. I don't want to jump into a romantic relationship too fast. Especially because I did not create Niall to make him have a girlfriend right away. He might end up falling in love with his best friend, who knows... all that needs to be roleplayed out, but you have probably already guessed that. I have to say, that there is a limit on what I would allow a manipulative girl do to him, because I want him to stay innocent. He won't kiss her or sleep with her or anything, but of course, she can always charm him and make him do stuff for her. Just come with some ideas, even if I haven't mentioned any of them above. So for now I am just looking for friendly people to roleplay with, and who might have some interesting plots for Niall. He is an ancient being... A Nix! Inspired by how Scandinavia views them; he lures people into his lake by playing entrancing music. Niall cannot help to be what he is, it is racial for him. And he does not want to drown people, though it still happens. The reason for his clumsiness is because he is not used to walk on solid ground.

Ulf is my favourite character. He is a real adult, 35 years old. But despite his age, he has not yet found a woman to marry. He enjoys himself with the women he finds whenever he comes to town, but that rarely happens. He has given is oath to the Rohirrim and is the first ranger. He loves his job and loves the great outdoors. The man is a loner. He lives away from Edoras with his raven (his pet is one of Ulf’s biggest characteristics) and his black stallion. Both of these pets are young and he enjoys their company. So… I can imagine Ulf having many many many acquaintances, but not many good friends. Perhaps a few very close ones. I don’t want him to become very close friends with the Rohirrim riders. Perhaps he could become friends with someone you would not expect to be friends with; a youngster, an elf, a dwarf etc. He is very interested in a love relationship, though that has to be rp’ed out because he is complex when it comes to love. He puts himself and his job in front of everything – even in front of people he loves. He does not fall easily in love, so it may start out as a small fling or whatever. He also needs women he can just have fun with. Hmm what else. Oh yeah… He is Baldur’s uncle, so his nephew visits him whenever he can… Ulf should have some enemies as well… If you have any ideas, please post them.

So. I have Duilin for you. She's eighteen years old, and comes from the Eastfold in Rohan. Her mother and eldest brother left the family several years ago, going to her mother's home in Gondor, leaving behind Duilin's father Beran, her brother Daerol and Duilin herself. Duilin was seven years old back then.
Today, her father and brother are both smiths, creating swords and horse shoes and things like that, while Duilin is in charge of the house and the animals. She is not very fond of calling herself a housewife, she prefers the title of a horse trainer - firstly because the family owns horses and she does train them and take care of them, and secondly because she's exceedingly good with horses. Well, she's a Rohirrim after all.
She, her father and brother often travel around Rohan, selling what they forged. They travel a few weeks, and then return to their home again. She is not likely, however, to leave Rohan at this point of her story.
Duilin is cheeky, fresh and clever. She's somewhat boyish, growing up mainly around males. She has a certain fascination for swords, for fighting, for horses - but actually, she can be passionate about anything, once it claimed her interest. Duilin is a very openminded and openhearted person. She welcomes anyone to her life, makes quick friendships, and generally loves people. She believes people to generally be good in heart. She is an optimist, who finds joy in the smallest of things - like a beetle, like riding, or like lying in the grass, staring at clouds in the sky.



The second character I have is Sam. You know Sam. Everyone knows Sam. Now the only question is how or if he would actually meet one of your chars. Sam won't leave the Shire, not even for Bree, not before he sets out with the other three hobbits. Difficult!

TOM BOMBADIL
You probably know Tom! He did not appear in the movies, but he is a rather big character in the books. Tom is the oldest man in middle earth. He is older than the elves and the ents and the maiars. When he talks to Gandalf he says: Young master Gandalf. He is living in the old forest in Bree-land. I can totally see him and Niall becoming very good friends. Baldur might be a bit weirded out by him, since he seems like a very logical and simple guy. Ulf could be an old friend. But not a close friend. Tom could be an acquaintance that gives him a bed to sleep in when he passes through the forest. But Niall and Tom! I can totally see a friendship and a cool plot happening.

PEREGRIN TOOK
Little Pippin would probably not understand what Niall really is, since he has never heard of The Nix before. He could perhaps know Baldur because he lives nearby, but I don't think that they can be good friends. Perhaps not at first. I don't think that they would trust each other.

FREYA STORMBORN
Freya is Baldur's partner in crime! We already had that worked out. I can also see her being fond of talking with Niall. Perhaps he can accidentally lure her into his lake, but she gets saved right before she drowns? That would be interesting... Hmm... Oh and perhaps Ulf could be the one to save her? She would have some sort of admiration for him, and he would probably like her because she is Baldur's friend.

Oh yeah.... I am totally putting bling up on my plot page! Wooot! Aaaanyways Duilin sounds like a perfect best friend for Niall! She seems like a girl who can ignore his flaws and put the differences between them aside. I would really like for them to meet. I could also imagine her and Baldur having some kind of a plot together. I was thinking that she could be his "play mate" (LOL) when he is visiting his uncle. He wouldn't know anyone in Rohan, so Ulf could introduce Duilin for Baldur. I can see Duilin become one of Ulf's closest friends! I am going to reply to her open thread...

Sam is a nice and simple hobbit. Hmm.... I think that Niall would be the one he could meet. Niall would probably travel to the shire at some point and he could bump into Sam. I don't think that Sam would know about Niall being The Nix, since he looks like a normal human being. He could tell Sam more about the elves... Oh and if Ulf goes travelling as well, he could also bump into Sam... Again, he could tell him about the big wide world...

YES!!!!!! I can totally see it, El! Niall and Tom should really be "partners in crime". Tom is also married to a water nymph, so he would probably understand Niall quite well. Baldur would definitely be creeped out by him. He does not really believe in many magical creatures, so I think that Baldur would see Tom Bombadil as a myth hahaha. Ulf would be a good friend of his. A place where he can crash - nice!

Niall could just like with Sam's plot, pass through the Shire and get to know the hobbits. Baldur would definitely not trust Pippin. He would not see him as a threat, but he just doesn't trust anyone...

The beautiful Freya! Perfect name btw... Haha. Anyway... She and Baldur were already friends before you reopened the site, so it is perfect if they continue being that. They both live in Bree so it is great! It would be an interesting plot if she bumped into the Nix accidentally and Niall would lure her into the water. Ulf would definitely be the one to save her, and he would probably also have a small fascination for her, so there can be a bit jealousy between uncle and nephew at the end. What thread do you want the most? I am thinking either the Freya/Nix thread or Niall/Tom thread...

Let's see how Ulf and her get along in that thread. I suppose very well, Duilin is the kind of person that gets along with almost anyone. She tries hard to be liked, and likes everyone back. She might be a little reserved and not as loud and open as usually because of their age difference, but she might drop that after some time.
With Baldur... Certainly! Duilin would love to be introduced to him. She probably will be very proud of getting to know people from so far away. To her, that's something very special. She'll have so many questions!

Sam and Niall
Brilliant idea! Sam would hang on Niall's lips! He would want to hear more and more and more about the elves and all else Niall would tell him. He'd be SO excited!

Sam and Ulf
Honestly, I think Sam would feel so intimidated by him... It always depends on the surroundings, but I think Sam would not trust him.

I think because Ulf is a Rohirrim Rider, Lachlan would look up to the man, plus the fact that he isn't married yet and is thirty-five. I think that for Lachlan this would mean that the man cares more about his home then marriage. Which is right now, how Lachlan feels. Plus is horse is gorgeous and Lachlan loves horses. I think they could be friends.
. Niall & Vanya .
Ok I'm just gunna say it, I <3 Niall. I think him and Vanya could be good friends, I'm not exactly sure on how they would meet. But she is a dancer if that helps XD. I think she would like the fact that he was clumsy and more then likely the way he sings. She would probably end up developing a crush on him but would probably never tell him, she's by no means good at flirting or advances from others. I think it would be rather easy for them to meet since she lives in Rivendell and often takes long walks.

I think if these two met on land, Lachlan would just figure him to be a clumsy idiot and grow agitated with him, because of course he doesn't know any better.
. Frodo & Brywynn .
I believe Frodo and Bree would be good friends. She's friends with Pippin, so they could know each other that way. But I don't think she would make fun of him, or find him weird like some of the older hobbits do. She could always stick up for him if she hears some of the other hobbits do. I think she would like that he is different.

Tari & Baldur
The only reason I can see Tari and Baldur coming into contact is for a potion that requires Dire Wolf hair. She would send word ahead, come herself, broach the subject with Baldur and ask for the hair, nails, whatever that might be required for the spell or potion she was trying to finish. Having a domesticated dire wolf? Uncommon, and she'd hear of it eventually that a man from Bree had a tamed companion. Whether or not he allows it is up to him/you, but she'd be quiet, respectful, but very stubborn and adamant. Killing a dire wolf in the wild is just asking for trouble, they're pack animals, and unless it was a sickly lone one.... even then she'd have trouble. Unnecessary killing is a waste.

Tari & Niall
AND YOU, Nix >D Oh... this could be interesting. If charm is what it took, charm is what she would use. Tari is a person that gets along with most everyone and see's no harm in using extra charm or schmooze to get what she needs for someone else. She wouldn't do it to be spiteful, but compliments never hurt, right?? But an ancient being in a lake, that's sure to be full of ripe opportunities. She would come and bring him gifts, a trade of sorts, for either information of whats in the lake itself, if there are any ingredients she needed at the bottom, and she'd try her hardest to convince him that she needed his help to get it. She's rather wary of water. A shallow stream or river is fine to draw water for a bath if your pipes are not already lined for it, but a lake? Where things even the ancients remember and know of could possibly lurk? She isn't getting in. --- Otherwise, she'd grow a keen fondness for the ancient. His awkwardness would be precious, cute even to her, but she could give him lessons on walking, how to walk silently, if he needed. As for other feelings, we could RP and see how it went.

As for Ulf, if Baldur was stubborn she'd turn to Ulf and try to get it through him, or ask him to talk with Baldur.
