LADY GALADRIEL*
Galadriel, who would become the Lady of Lórien, was born long before even the First Age, in Valinor, during the Years of the Trees. She was a child of great nobility, the granddaughter of King Olwë, King Finwë and Indis, making her the kin of King Ingwë. She and her brothers, Finrod, Aegnor and Angrod (daughter and sons of Finarfin, Prince of the Noldor), were all destined to become great and powerful lords of the Elfish lands however all of her brothers perished in battles of the First Age.
She travelled a great deal during the first age. She was not immune to the curse of ambition however she was a most fair elf, and possessed wisdom far beyond the years of even an elf such as her. Galadriel removed her people from the rebellion of Noldor before it would claim their lives. They travelled to Beleriand, where Galadriel lived with her brother, Finrod, for some time. She was welcome in the court of Thingol, King of Doriath, due to his relation to her grandfather, and it was there she met Celeborn, the Prince of Doriath. She learnt much of Middle-Earth, of all beings, but most importantly fell entirely in love with Celeborn and the two were wed.
Though she had left the Undying Lands without permission, Galadriel was offered passage back as she had resisted taking up arms in the Noldor revolt. However Middle-Earth had her curiosity, her love and her pride, and thus she stayed.
Time progressed and Galadriel and Celeborn travelled to Lindon as the Second Age took hold. Beneath the High-King Gil-galad, the pair ruled briefly before moving on to create the land of Eregion. Here she befriended Celebrimbor, and he took rule in their stead. During their reign, they made contact with a settlement in the Anduin valley and soon travelled on to it, leaving Celebrimbor to rule Eregion. Out of the new settlement they created Lothlórien, and ruled in peace. The Golden woods quickly became a place of both revere and, to some, fear. The Lady and her Lord were powerful. Celeborn, one of the most wise, and Galadriel possessing of a sight so powerful as to see into the life of Middle-Earth. It was here, they had their daughter, Celebrían. She would later marry Lord Elrond of Riverdell, and forever seal the Elfish kingdoms together through their marriage and children, Elladen, Elrohir and Arwen.
Soon enough a beautiful emissary and Lord, Annatar, came to Celebrimbor of Eregion but Galadriel did not trust the gift-bearer. Her warnings went on deaf ears. Annatar taught and commissioned Celebrimbor to create the seven rings of power for dwarves and the nine rings of power for men, however these were under the control and corruption of Annatar’s influence, Annatar who was a mere disguise for the Dark Lord Sauron. Whilst his evil was revealed in his creation of the One Ring, Celebrimbor too had created three rings of his own, free from Sauron’s influence. Galadriel discussed and counselled Celebrimbor on the rings and as a result she was given one of three free rings to protect her lands and preserve the good of Middle-Earth. Eregion was attacked but she had her ring, Nenya of Water, safe. She soon began to seek the defeat of Sauron, using her influence over the Elves, however she refused to use her ring whilst Sauron still possessed the Ring of Power, lest it gain his attention. With her great sight and power, Sauron deeply wished to see into her mind but once the One Ring was lost, he did not possess the power.
After Isildur defeated Sauron, Galadriel used her ring to begin to return peace to the realm. Lothlórien was to become her Elfish refuge, especially for the Nandor. She became one of the most powerful Elfs in Middle-Earth and though the borders Lothlórien were soon closed and guarded, she remained in contact with the other Elfish lords, particularly Elrond, and her grandchildren.
Though renowned for her beauty and generosity, Galadriel has the potential for darkness. She is fair and most certainly wise but like all those with great power, she must concern herself always with balance. With her mind’s eye fixed closely on the future of things, Galadriel can sometimes seem uncaring, willing for things to come to pass that others might not wish to see, however to assume her so would be a mistake. She had at once the gift and curse of knowing too much. Having seen the thousands of years of their world, and the worlds that lie beyond it, Galadriel has both the experience to know that the good do not always prosper, and yet she retains the brightness and hope to know that in darkness, there is always some light.
Lady Galadriel is usually quiet, an extremely thoughtful being, often burdened by the fate of things. Fortunately however she is hopeful, she believes strongly in the power of good. Although she equally believes in the power of truth, whether it is seen as cruel or kind, she believes truth should be a guiding star. This will set people on their path, when all else hides it.
Power has a hold on all who possess it, and no amount of wisdom nor years can change this, even for Galadriel. Despite her better judgement part of her still desires the One Ring, and the greatness she could achieve with it. A White Queen, the end of Sauron, the time of the Elves returned to her...and yet in her heart she knows it is wrong. She is in possession of a ring of power and already that is enough, perhaps too much. Ring-bearers, in spite of her love for her people and her lover, are alone. The centuries have taught her this, if nothing else, the rings, no matter which, are a burden. To do any good at all requires great power, and even then the good may not be apparent for many moons, in not decades.

[Andromeda Tonks RP sample, set when Lupin returns Tonks home, immediately after Sirius’ death]
Andromeda paced her living room anxiously. She had not sat down for longer than 30 seconds for over 4 and a half hours. She simply couldn’t. She’d tried cleaning, she was good at cleaning. That was a problem. Everywhere was now pristine, there was nothing else she could do. To anyone who knew her well enough her anxiety was obvious through the sight of the immaculate living room. The kitchen told the same tale. Andromeda tapped the back of her finger against her palm in a nervous habit she’d had since she was a child. It had increased exponentially in the past year or so. It was a bad time to be a good guy.
So much had happened in the past few months that all too soon would be eclipsed entirely by the horrors that were still to come. Andy had her place in the Order of the Phoenix, yes, but it was a most passive one. Her home was a safehouse for members in need, she was an occasional source of information too, but it was nothing compared to her cousin and daughter. Sirius had always had a penchant for danger. Even in their days as students he’d been attracted to all that bordered on stupid, but when James and Lily died...
Andromeda could honestly say that she’d never had a flicker of doubt about her cousin. She’d never believed him to have killed the Potters or turned to the side of Lord Voldemort. How could anyone who had seen Sirius beside those two, holding onto his godson, have possibly believed such a thing? She didn’t understand what had happened, but she knew it couldn’t be him.
Perhaps even more worrying though was her daughter, Nymphadora. The beautiful daughter Ted had given her. She was an auror now, a fully-fledged member of the Order of the Phoenix. She was so young, and so fearless. So Sirius’ head had appeared in their fireplace whilst Andy, Ted and their daughter ate dinner and Nymphadora had jumped to the call. Harry Potter was in danger, possibly in the Dark Lord’s hands as they spoke. Of course none had a choice, Andy understood that, but her fear could not be quelled by such rationality. Ted went with Nymphadora to Grimmauld Place. He would need to call other contacts from there whilst the other Order members went to the Ministry. Andy remained in case the safe house was required, unlikely as that would be.
It was a concern she never voiced, and one she always felt entirely guilty for, but it was hard to be as fearful for Harry’s safety when it put the lives of the most loved people in her life in such jeopardy. Andy had always been a ceaseless victim to her own guilt, so such a thought was purely heinous for her and she knew how important Harry was, but Sirius and Nymphadora placed themselves in danger time and again for this cause. Ted too, had his part to play, even Remus Lupin was a close friend. She’d spoken with Dumbledore about it before of course, her fears, her distress and he calmed her, albeit briefly. For some things he was the only one you could talk to, for so many people.
Her pacing would soon leave one long, thread-bare section in the rug but Andy couldn’t care, nor could she stop. Just months ago death eaters had broken out of Azkaban, her own elder sister at the head of the pack. Bellatrix. Wherever He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was she would go. She was probably there now alongside him, and Andy’s own daughter had gone to face her. Nymphadora would never fully comprehend who and what Bellatrix was. She didn’t even think Sirius did. Not entirely. And worst of all, Bellatrix would despise Nymphadora the most for who she was. Andy realised her breathing had picked up, closer to hyperventilation, and she stopped moved to try and slow it. Her legs itched with the need to keep moving and as she took another step she heard a rapping at the front door.
Andy’s heart jumped into her throat, stomach shrinking impossibly small, as she rushed to the front door with reckless abandon. She pushed aside the many locks and tapped the door with her wand to remove a charm before opening it quickly to reveal Remus Lupin and her daughter. She held it back and pulled Nymphadora in at once, hugging her fiercely whilst she allowed Remus in and shut the door behind her.
”Thank Merlin you are okay!”
She kissed her daughter forehead, looked down at her and faltered a little. Her daughter was almost indifferent, no...not that. She was just so unresponsive. Andy was thrown for a moment but pulled her into another hug as she tapped the door once more with her wand, locking it up soundly. She then led her back towards Remus in the living room but once they were there Nymphadora simply sat down on the sofa, uncharacteristically silent.
Andy looked between the two.
