[/IMG]IRETH LAFAERA*
Name: Ireth Lafaera
Appearance:
Ireth has long, silver blue hair. She has a small frame, though she is still strong despite that. Her pale skin brings out her blue-green eyes. She stands at about 5'7" at full height. Like any other elf, she moves with grace and stealth.
Ireth never reveals herself to anyone unless she has been seen or she finds it is a great need. Despite this, anyone that has seen her would comment that she is as beautiful as any elf should be.
Ireth will hardly ever be seen wearing a dress, preferring instead the clothing of a man. It is easier to fight in such and she would not want to be in a compromising position because she had to dress like a woman. Over her clothes she wears a cloak to hide most of her appearance. Though she finds that pants are a lot easier to move in and, for her, feel most comfortable she will wear a dress or gown of some sort if it is a formal gathering.
Personality:
Ireth is usually very serious. Having a quiet ans secluded nature, she tends to stray away from any crowd. Still, she loves the arts, such as drawing, and she loves to read and write. In all, she can be a very complex person.
Ireth tends to be logical at sometimes and wise at others, trying to find a balance between doing whats smart and whats right. She cares little for most things, which has actually given her an open mind. As a calm person in nature, she could still be merciless if angered greatly.
In nature Ireth feels most calm, finding it most calming to sing to herself. Not many people have heard her sing, but it may have a calming effect on others as it does her. And though she has a highly calm appearance, if angered she can seem scary and almost uncontrolled. Even so, most times if she is angered she will still have some control over herself.
Hardly anyone will find Ireth near other people as she dislikes being in the crowd. When she is in the crowd she will barely say a word. Even around friends she could be seen as quiet and reserved. However, even if she will not speak too much she is very loyal to those she find as friends.
History:
Ireth was born in Rivendell, only staying there until she was one hundred years old before leaving to see the world beyond the borders. As a child she was very playful and gentle, usually having upon her face a gentle smile. She loved the animals of the woods and the plants, often going further and further away into forest the older she got. She also seemed to have a love for climbing trees as a child, though she seemed to grow out of it as she became an adult. Often times, just as she might be found in a clearing of flowers she would also be found high up in the branches of a tree, staring through the leaves and up into the sky. She found herself to be very adventurous, much to the poor nerves of her parents who would often worry about Ireth whenever she stepped foot outside, knowing she would wonder off somewhere.
There had been times as a child that the little elf would get lost, only to be found hours later by her worried parents somewhere deep within the forest trying to get a small rabbit to eat from her hand or staring off into the distance. Of course after such adventures Ireth would be forbidden from leaving her parents side for at least a few days. It was from this born instinct she had to explore that her life would be set from, for wandering through the lands seemed what she was destined to do by the time she reached adulthood, and perhaps that was what she would do for her whole life, such a long life it was capable of being. But, though these threads of fate where slowly starting to show even now, the little elf remained so carefree throughout her childhood and continued such antics as wandering, much to her parent's dismay.
In fact as she grew older such adventurous traits seemed to just grow stronger in the gentle elf child. Though her spirit remained kind she seemed to grow tired of staying in one place for such a long time and often tried to go further and further each day. At one point Ireth had managed to get out of the boarders of Rivendell, quite a ways to travel for a child of her age, and was nearly killed of course. There were still evil beings that roamed the lands beyond her sanctuary in which she was born into and such a creature is what had managed to find her as she found herself outside the protection of her parents and her home. There had been luck on her side as her parents had noted that she had not come home and had come looking for her. The closer they had grew to the boarder the more they got worried, so worried that they even called upon a small patrol when the group came into sight.
Together the worried parents and the boarder patrol looked for the child, and they found her barely alive and seeking shelter in a tree while the evil creature attacked at it's base, for it was too heavy to climb. It did not take long for the elves to kill the evil thing, for there was only one at the time, but one was all the difference between life and death for one so young. They could not coax Ireth out of the tree, she could vaguely even hear their calls to her. One of the elves quickly climbed up and detached her broken body from the high branches, immediately rushing her back to the city to be healed. It had taken quite a while for the child to get back onto her feet, and when she did everyone noticed she was much more placid than before, though she still went into the forest she never past the boarder ever again at so young an age. It was also at this time that her father decided that she needed to learn how to fight as her need to roam did not seem to be leaving their child.
When her father told her that she would learn how to fight Ireth grew more and more active again. She held a strong desire to be able to defend herself after what had happened and, though she was a gentle soul, she also believed that such lessons were valuable and necessary. Thus her training began. The child was taught how to wield a sword and a bow, and though she was well enough with a bow she seemed to much prefer a sword instead. The interesting thing was as she grew older and older she began to use a duel wielding style more and more, fighting with two lightweight long swords instead of just one. It seemed to develop into her signature style after a while the more she practiced, and though it was less controlled and more wild she would always prefer it. Despite what Ireth preferred her father still taught her well how to use only a single blade as well as two, knowing there would be a time when at least one of her weapons were disarmed. He also taught her how to use smaller weapons in case she were to get both main weapons disarmed, her favorite being a kukri type blade.
Most of her training continued on into her adolescent years and adult life. Her father would continually push her to her limits as much as he could, trying to be sure she could keep herself safe. This manner of teaching was frowned on a bit by some of the others of his race, but he wanted his beloved daughter to be safe should he not be around. Along with wielding a blade Ireth gained knowledge in other areas also, mostly from her mother and several books that she managed to lay her hands on. It was some time during her adolescent stage that she took notice of books more and more and decided to read what she could, though more of what she was interested in. She read about other lands, many other places that she could still see and would often try to imagine what they looked like. She took up drawing a bit in what little past time she seemed to have then, trying to display what she imagined on paper. She would get better with time in her art, but in the beginning the drawings seemed rather crude, which often had her frowning.
The first two hundred years of her life were spent in this routine, though she would soon force change upon herself. After finishing reading another book Ireth was caught just staring out the window, a look of longing held on her face as she gazed out into the trees. Her father knew that she would probably leave him soon, the need to seek the world outside the small one she knew growing stronger and stronger. He could do no more for her fighting skills as they had been improved by him to the best of his ability. However, he would often see her practicing by herself after her studies, having dropped drawing as a past time some several years before hand. Recently though, Ireth had asked of him to learn to play a pipe, which he had asked for another of his friends to teach her as he had not played one before. She seemed to pick it up well enough and now spent some of the time practicing that as well. His daughter was beautiful and graceful, so every father should believe about his daughter. She seemed to have a natural curiosity about the world around her and he knew he would be unable to stop it from taking her to a new place to explore.
It was only a few years later that his thoughts were realized. Ireth had packed a small bag for herself, packing her best weapons, and extra set of clothing, some food, some silver, and her instrument before bidding him and her mother farewell. She knew that her parents would be sad at her departing, but they had taught her of the world well and how to take care of herself when she would be on her own. For the next hundred years she would be seen within the elven city, often visiting when she was around. It was during these years that she would often put her fighting skills to the test, especially nearing the last years of the century. There were great battles during this time and the young elf found herself fighting against many orcs with her people. She had stayed home to help defend the lands during this time, knowing that they would need whoever could wield a blade or a bow to help. It was during this time that she gained much of her real battle experience, though there was still more to come in later years.
It was also during this time that tragedy entered her life. Her father died in one of the later battles causing her much grief. Ireth had stayed in her lands for a short while to grieve for his loss with her mother, but after a time she found that she could no longer stay. After the orcs were pushed back she would leave her home once more, seemingly to run from the place that now caused her so much grief. Her visits were now often more scarce and shorter then they had been before, until she even stopped coming for a time. During that time she felt the weight of her heavy heart, but she knew that there was still much to live for in the world. She explored more and more of the world, often hiding from large groups of enemies and fighting off other, smaller groups. There were also times she found that running was the best solution and often would exercise that. It seemed like she had fallen into another routine as she had when she was younger. Her fighting improved with time, letting her last longer in battles and fighting stronger opponents before thinking of running or hiding, but there was still only so much one female elf could take on.
After another hundred years or so being away from home her grief lessened to the point that home seemed safe to go to once more. However, that thought was as wrong as wrong could be. When she finally reached home she discovered that her mother had died during her absence. She died of a broken heart for her love that had lost his life in battle. She did leave a few words for her daughter, for whenever she would return, knowing that her time was coming closer and closer. Ireth let the words of her mother comfort her, but this time she did not run away again. Instead she worked hard to get everything straightened out again, for she knew that she would leave eventually once more. Her mother's words seemed to hold back the great grief that she had once felt for her father, knowing that her mother was now with him in death and that she was happier there. The young elf would continue on living by herself now, holding her parent's teachings at heart.

It had been a long time since Ireth had traveled through Mirkwood territory, having either been needed elsewhere during the past several years or just neglecting to come in Mirkwood's direction. It had not been an easy place to travel through the last time she had been within it's woods, but as she wondered through there now she could see a difference from her other travels there. Still, there were dangers around her, having seen some Orcs nearby on her way. It was only two scouts, probably from a larger party further away, but she had been careful to avoid them, she was only a single elf after all so she did not need a whole party of Orcs coming after her.
After passing that the two lone scout Orcs the forest seemed to quiet down a little more. It was uncommon for the forest, but she could not detect anything which threatened her at the moment either. Everything seemed well enough for her, but she still kept her guard quite high. There had been several times when she first left her home that she had been caught off guard by something, and she did learn her lesson well after the first few, though sometimes mistakes did happen.
Slowly a sound began to travel to her ears, the sound of water from a stream. The water skin which she had slung over her shoulder still held a decent amount of water, but sometimes Ireth could never be too sure when water would come again so it was best to refill whenever she had the chance. When she found the stream she simply observed it for a moment as it was out in an open area. After not seeing anything amiss she slowly began to wander out just as another caught her attention.
It was another elf, a male of her race, which was nearby. He had been also trying to refill on water when she had noticed him. Still she had paused right on the spot, now visible just inside the open area as she observed him.
