THE PLOT !
Welcome to Middle Earth in the year 3001, 1401 after Shire Reckoning!
It is the beginning of the grand finale of the third age. Sauron has long ago secretly returned from his hiding place in Dol Guldur to Mordor. He has built the fortress of Barad dur and now has begun breeding a large army of orcs.
Saruman the White, head of the White Council, has fallen under Sauron's spell, breeding orcs now as well, and thus deceiving the Council.
The One Ring, key to Sauron's power and rule over Middle Earth, is safely and unsuspectedy hidden in the midst of the Shire, with the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, who now is preparing the celebrations for his 111th birthday party (which at the same time is Frodo Baggins' 33rd birthday and thus coming-of-age-party), which will take place in September.
The Elves are leaving Middle Earth to sail into the West, to Valinor. Only a few bastions of elven wisdom, lore and culture have remained in Imladris/Rivendell, Lothlorien, Northern Mirkwood and in Mithlond.
The Dwarves have lost their great city of Moria to orcs and other dark creatures.
The race of Men is splitted and discordent. The line of Anarion, the kings of Gondor, has died long ago. Of the heirs of Isildur not much is known in Gondor, and thus all power lies with the steward of Minas Tirith, Denethor II.
In Rohan, the line of Eorl rules over the land and has to face the growing threat of Saruman's manipulation and power.
In Arnor, the Men are unruled by a king since the death of Isildur. Smaller cities and towns have long ago claimed the independent rule over their own lands. Only rangers and wildmen live abroad.
The Haradrim, peoples of Harad, have been ruled by Numenorean Lords for a long time, but now have fallen under influences of Mordor and Umbar and so became Gondor's enemy.
In Rhun, the Easterlings have been Mordor's allies since the second age. During the third age, the two blue wizards have travelled there and have never been seen again.
The people of Dale are Northmen, for a long time suffering under Smaug the Golden, until Bard the Bowman struck and killed the dragon. Northmen in general were friendly with the dwarves, and especially with Gondor, often helping the kingdom in its war with the Easterlings.
Middle Earth, at the end of the third age, is a disunited realm of many races, with many conflicts and some friendships, and only waits for a strike of doom to unite them all again.
